This is a really oldgarnaled pine that I am planing on collecting next spring, its from the same location of the Silver Birch above. I am planing on creating a Cascade style added with some serious carving, I have ringed pruned and cut some of the branches that I don't need in my design, but I feel I could have a great Bonsai out of it in years to come.
Again I will keep you posted on its progress of styling and life as a Bonsai.
This is a Silver Birch I am planing on collecting next spring, I spoted it high up in the South Welsh mountains, it has good Nebria and old cracked bark, with really good movement to the trunk. I have ringed pruned the roots for it to be ready collections next year. I will take you through its progress as it grows and enjoys it new life as Bonsai.
Summer 2007.
I have retained alot of the top branches as I have not yet decided where to chop the trunk and which branch to use as a new leader.
The roots for the nebari is great on it..
This tree has a good trunk and many bottom branches! however while digging down to find the root ball, i found a very long untrunk!! that had been covered over the years by coal and earth. So I airlayered it, just below soil level, this will make roots grow, then i can collected it later in the year.
Look at this wide old oak tree, can you see the natural jin in the bottom pic..
Up high in the mountains (where all the harsh weather is)
